  1. Is the Incline’s gravel brought from the mine in Alden Township that is the subject of your April 28 article?

  2. The DNT scooped you today 6/3/25, how can this be?

    duluthnewstribune.com/news/local/plans-for-massive-duluth-housing-development-break-down

I wonder how that could happen. I see that the spokesperson for City dealings is Arik Forsman, so maybe he was the source. Maybe he would rather have the DNT interview him than have any Monitor interview. The DNT lets the councilors and others create their word salad with zero followup or any real questions. It’s not too late, Monitor. Get in there and ask the questions that need to be asked:

    – Arik, you are on record of not liking all the TIF amendments that happen, think Lakeview 333 with eight amendments and the eighth was a doozy. Question is how many amendments will you allow on this project?

    – Arik, why are you the spokesman for this project?

    – Mayor Reinert, why haven’t we heard from you and your administration on this project and the TIF? You have stated a few times we need to more careful when we use TIFs. Question is, how long will the City stick with this developer and provide the $75 million TIF for high end housing units?

    – Mayor Reinert, this week is your FaceBook class on street repairs. How will deferring property tax increases on this site for 26 years help repair more roads in Duluth? We will add maybe a mile or two or three at this site that after 26 years will need some work. Where will the money come from to do this work after the property hasn’t contributed to the tax base for these repairs?

    – Mayor Reinert and Arik, when will the only city in the state special sales tax be removed that provides about 89% of the funding for our road repairs? Will it be after this project is complete or is it with us forever?

    – Mayor Reinert and Arik, what TIF would you not support? What criteria do you look for when deciding to award a TIF district?
