When asked by the city attorney in a recent council meeting, Chris stated that “no money had changed hands” between Garage Starts and the Band Shell. He said it with a straight face and without missing a beat.
I’m sure someone in Two Harbors has the documentation to show how many thousands or tens of thousands “changed hands.” Dig a little deeper…PLEASE.
The whole Garage Starts thing alone has so many things to uncover. People working under him for that project had to be completely silent about anything pertaining to what they did and who it was for.
Just like all his other endeavors, stay silent as long as you can until things get pushed though and then ask the other council people for forgiveness, or tell them that the topic was discussed after he just slid another scam through. In his eyes, no matter what the business is or how much he or another member from his family have been paid from the city, the idea of conflict of interest has never crossed his radar.
His LinkedIn profile is hysterical. More “pies” than he has fingers! You’ve only mentioned a small handful of his involvements in the last 10-15 years.

The problem is you are dealing with a narcissistic imbecile. He believes–truly believes–he is the savior of Two Harbors, and what I have seen in the city meetings is a complete breakdown from what should be happening in the council meetings. According to the genius Mayor, he believes we should move past this as he is wasting his time on this gossip and should be tackling a housing crisis in town. Again, Mayor McCheese is the one who created this housing issue as his family has bought multiple homes in town for VRBO rentals, but now has put a limit on new applications for home rentals since he has what he needs. It’s not surprise that he would push for the Tall Ships, as it would be a huge windfall of vacation-rental money for that period of time.
Enough is enough. I have a little secret for all the people out there who are brainwashed by the amount of garbage he spews. I am not jealous, in fact I would strive to be the exact opposite of everything he stands for. He is out to help himself, nothing more. He talks down to people and if you do not agree with his genius ideas he dismisses you as an idiot.
Also, please dig into the Burlington Candy Factory, train station, trinket shop and whatever else you can cram in that building. Sources say that his wife created a company to get more grants for women in business for that project and most likely that goes to the mayor’s address also. Let’s also mention that the Saturday farmers market used to be downtown, but who suggested that it should be relocated and now resides in, you guessed it, the Burlington Station parking lot. Surprise, surprise. You can’t tell me that that business does not benefit from having that amount of people in their lot every Saturday.
Get this garbage Mayor out of this town once and for all and hire a person that is about helping, not adding to the trash pile.
Mayor Chris Swanson is a cancer and slowly tearing this town apart.
Dismiss him from his position. He should have zero input on any matters at this point.
Did anyone catch in the last city meeting when the person who runs the Tall Ships thought it was odd that Two Harbors wanted to hire a outside company (First Day Events), as he said they have never done it that way before. They usually handle every aspect of the event themselves, to make it easy on the city, as it’s a turn-key ready operation. Guessing Swanson thought this would be a great way to get his daughter’s feet wet by creating a totally new business and strongly suggesting it would be a great company to handle said event. Heck, Swanson even wanted the city to pull the permits for the event to take the liability off his daughter.
He sure was excited there at first–8 times to be exact.
