  1. There was an ammonia leak in the Arena back in the mid-80s when I worked overnights on the labor crew. We were sweeping up in the stands after a UMD hockey game and someone came running in screaming GET OUT! We all dropped our brooms and ran. I got one whiff of it outside. It was like walking into a wall of smell. Just POW! I can’t imagine the panic that would have ensued if it had happened a few hours earlier during the game, which was packed with people.
