  1. Finally! Someone that prints the details and facts regarding this homicide. A family shouldn’t have to wait this long for justice, let alone to receive simple answers and timely correspondence from our County Attorney’s office! After all, we pay their salaries!!!!

    Shameful!

    John Ramos bless you!

  2. Thank you so much for reporting this! My heart is swollen, and I don’t have many words. Just thank you. I will keep praying.

  3. A very good write up. Thank you for publishing the facts for the public to see. It sure makes our public officials seem corrupt when they refuse to do, or even take a stand for, what is so obviously right. They must not realize they will be held accountable. Edwards will be held accountable, too. I just hope his justice comes swiftly.

  4. Thank you for letting Ryan’s story be told with such detail and accuracy! So many people have had questions and concerns regarding his case and this article goes into the depth needed to explain what REALLY happened!

  5. Thank you for including so many details (from both sides) so that we can form our own informed opinion. Authentic journalism is hard to find these days.

I commend those who have the courage to stand by their own convictions and not just go along to get along.

In order to have confidence in our judicial system, this case should move forward to let the people decide through a grand jury.

  6. Thank you so much for sharing what really happened in detail for the public. We can see how completely wrong it is that nothing has been pursued. We have gotten the runaround for far too long. I pray that we get justice for Ryan’s life. Please hold the man accountable for his murder. Sharing this story here in Austin Texas.

    • Amen. This Edwards is a mean individual, made more apparent by drugs or alcohol. How sad for Ryan Moats…just looking for a lighter.

      • This is unbelievable and now, with this press release, it will be hard to find any jurors with an ability to form their own reasonable doubt. I’d sue (file a legal motion against) the city police and county attorney’s office. File a complaint with MN attorney general–this case deserves a jury trial. We’re already paying their salaries–let them work to prove their pathetic claims and reasoning. A person died during an unreasonable and unnecessary altercation. Just like the George Floyd case. This family deserves a trial to take place. The victim still has rights. Good thing there’s no statute of limitations on homicide cases. Please file a lawsuit against the defendant.

  7. We appreciate all your hard work, bravery and integrity in presenting the facts of this case, which have been silenced by the very people who are supposed to advocate for justice of the American people. This family has had their lives turned upside down due to this homicide. Something HAS to be done! Thank you so very much and may you continue to pursue printing the facts.

  8. Mr. Ramos, your courage shines bright in printing this story. It would seem the truth and evidence is here in this report for pursuing justice for Ryan. WHY NOT? I know this isn’t over!

  9. Great job, John Ramos! Best reporting I’ve seen coming from any news station in a very long time. I hope Ryan’s family and friends get the justice and peace they have been needing and fighting for! A jury absolutely should be able to decide guilt or innocence.

  10. Just remember the three county commissioners when you vote next time!!! Keith Nelson, why don’t you just go away!!!! What a bunch of clowns!!!

I’m sorry you have to go through this, and once again with no help from our so-called leadership!!!!

  11. Thank you. As a longtime friend of Ryan’s, I appreciate your effort and thoroughness. But I wonder what the county attorney’s real reason is for not seeking justice for Ryan and his family?

  12. Thank you for having the balls to tell the true story about what happened to Ryan. Thank you for having the balls that WDIO, the Duluth News Tribune, and our own local Mesabi Daily News didn’t have. It makes you wonder who has the power to snap their fingers to make those 3 organizations who claim to be all about the facts and truth, along with the DA and other county officials, tuck their tails between their legs and run??? That includes everyone involved except for the Virginia PD. This county’s PDs have absolutely no problem giving themselves a bad rep, but in this case, they did their job and they did so in accordance to the law. Makes you wonder again, how many times the police actually did do their jobs (in other cases) and got shut down by higher-up corrupt officials??? There were several other things that happened that weren’t included in the story because of not having evidence of it. Corruption starts at the very top and will continue until we stop putting those people in the positions they are in. We keep voting these people into office. We’re just as guilty of corruption as they are. The entire system needs a shakedown and these people need to be held accountable. Until this shakedown happens, no one is safe. Think about that at night as you try to sleep. For everyone involved, there is such a thing as karma. If you think you can’t be touched, karma has no boundaries or state/county lines it has to worry about crossing. What comes around, goes around. Your time will eventually come. The sooner the word about what happened to Ryan gets out to everyone, the sooner change has a chance of happening. If any current official gets re-elected, we’re all doomed and we did it to ourselves. Next election, I vote for the people, I vote for CHANGE!
