This is great work on Mark Baker’s part. I sure hope he applies to be on the Planning Commission, as there are two openings and its obvious the Planning Department could use his help at zero cost to the tax payers and those coming forward with improvements to their property.
I do find the headline here misleading and also the body of the piece. Does the Monitor know now if the City has determined a variance is not needed and returned the fee? If past is the future I would say the City will handle this outside of the sunshine so we will never see this on the agenda again nor spoken of again. I hope someone on the commission follows up in the sunshine. We do have a few commissioners that ask questions. It seems that in all the years I have watched the Planning Commission that we have at least three of nine that ask questions. This current group has a few commissioners that are excellent in their questions and not allowing the City to push the tough ones off.
I look forward to seeing HOW the City handles this mistake.
