  1. Chris Swanson used lawsuits in an attempt to keep you quiet… which in itself is against the law. (Doh!)

“Strategic lawsuits against public participation” (SLAPP) lawsuits are used to silence and intimidate others. It is illegal in Minnesota, and federally (to some extent).

Federal: SPEAK FREE Act of 2015 (https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/2304)
State: Minnesota statutes on free speech and participation in government (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/554)

I suggest reaching out to freedom of press or anti-SLAPP organizations, especially ones that offer legal counsel.
Here’s a short list to start with:

  2. What a saga. I’m sad the people of Two Harbors wound up with this person as their mayor. Fingers crossed for less crooked elected officials in their future.
