After reading all this, I am appalled with the school board. Are they all gutless to stand up to Sundquist? Polly Sorcan is representing the students, parents, and the public and I think she does a helluva job. The rest of the board should think of who they are representing! I, for one, would not want any one of them standing up for me with all the BS that goes on at the meetings. Does any one of them have the balls to stand up to Sundquist? They see what happens to Polly Sorcan and I really think they are afraid of Sundquist! This board should be ashamed of themselves for being so horrible to one of their members that the people voted for! Shame on all of you!
The school board meetings must have legal counsel present to ensure the proper parliamentary procedure is followed, such as Robert’s Rules of Order, and that school board policies are followed. The limiting of public comment is unacceptable; the constituency of these board members need to speak up immediately.
Yes, school boards should be trained in parliamentary procedure. But very few lawyers are trained in parliamentary procedure and fewer are certified parliamentarians. I know of no school board in Minnesota that has ever had a parliamentarian present, and there is no training of school boards in parliamentary procedure. Why? Because school boards don’t want to follow rules, they just want the POWER to control people.
It does not appear that ANY of the current School Board members have the testosterone level to speak up when they are getting crapped on by anyone else on the Board. Parliamentary Procedure? Forget it – I don’t believe they have a concept of proper procedure, Parliamentary or otherwise.
In regards to the complaints about the length of the meetings, and how it infringes on their personal life, RESIGN! You are not being held captive here.
Hi John, Great to see you digging into school boards again. Just like in Duluth, Rock Ridge and nearly all school boards in Minnesota are horrendous, and a disgrace to all democratic governments. There is a saying attributed to Mark Twain: “In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards.” That quote is being nice, the reality is that school boards are not just idiots, they are also evil. Do everything you can to expose what is happening on school boards.

Has Ms. Sundquist left the board? I don’t see her listed on their website any longer.
Yes. Ms. Sundquist served on the board from July 1, 2020 through the end of 2022.
