  1. Brenda’s roundup.

That Mayor up there is really pathetic. Again, if you question him or his visions he strikes you down. Now, anyone will try to defend themselves, as it’s human nature, but for the love of god! It’s very clear with First Day Events, as the man that heads the Tall Ships Festival said it was odd they were asked to use a outside company to run the event, and to protect First Day they wanted the city to request the permits to take liability off the Mayor’s daughter. That is not slanderous; it all was discussed in a City Hall meeting.

As for Garage Starts, the paperwork shows Chris Swanson receiving a handsome wage for his efforts (phone calls to wealthy people) along with other people within Garage Starts. With fundraising, isn’t the point to raise the most money possible, not strip the efforts with your astronomical wages? Not slander, actual fact!

By the way, anyone who wants to pull financial records of any nonprofit organization can use the website GUIDESTAR.org, as all nonprofits have to provide their financials. A great site to check on any other nonprofits you might like to donate to, as you want to make sure your donation is going to whoever is in need and not the people running it.

Looks to me in 2019 Friends of the Band Shell Park raised a total of 56,171.00 from contributions but had 48,697.00 in expenses leaving you with a grand total of 16,536.00 raised that year. That is not slander, anyone can look this information up free of charge at the site listed above. I am no mathematical genius but my initial impressions would say this is a horrible fundraising model.

Please keep the stories coming but be careful with the information.

    • I forgot to add that there was an additional $7,200 in revenue and $1,862 in service revenue, if you wonder how they ended up with a total of $16,536 raised for 2019. A far cry from the $2 million that the projected goal was for the project.

      • So where is the 2020 nonprofit tax info on the Band Shell? Just went to the site listed in the comments above, but only goes to 2019. Is it filed under something besides Friends of the Band Shell? Seems odd, as that year’s info would be when Garage Starts started helping them fundraise, or as some would say, take their money.

  2. ‘Mr. Swanson is a well-respected entrepreneur, the Mayor of the City of Two Harbors, Minnesota, and he has spent years building his positive reputation.’ is wishful thinking on Swanson’s part considering his creepy past.

  3. Mayor Swanson needs to be held accountable for his actions & misuse of power. Not to mention the continued lies, back stabbing of others & more. Good people of Two Harbors, stand up, have your voices heard, & get him out of office. He has done enough damage. To all locals & those visiting the town of Two Harbors, suggest boycotting any and all businesses that Christopher Swanson & family either own or have ties to. Maybe being hurt financially will actually hit home. Of course, there are some narcissistic individuals who never learn.

  4. I’m amazed that the reporter who wrote this article never investigated or took time to mention that the person who is paying for and encouraging that all this be brought to public attention is not even a resident of Two Harbors, Minnesota. He lives in South Carolina. Yes, he did grow up here, but has not resided here in years. What is his reason for being involved with this? Revenge?
